Building Technology Centre

About the Centre

Building Technology Centre (BTC) was established in the year 1994 under the aegis of Anna University, Chennai, in collaboration with HUDCO. Building Technology Centre develops and propagates building materials and methodologies which can reduce the construction costs using nationally acknowledged modern technologies and scientifically based methods. The BTC focuses on utilization of sustainable materials, with a strong emphasis on the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycling. These principles play a significant role in promoting sustainability by binding waste by-products from various industries and using them as supplements for cement. This approach proves effective in producing building materials with minimal environmental emissions. By adhering to these sustainable practices, the Centre enhances the properties and eco-friendliness of the building products. The BTC also creates awareness about the need for good quality in building construction. Building Technology Centre is regularly conducting training programme for civil engineers, supervisors, skilled and unskilled labours to transfer the latest technology and knowledge to the practicing engineers.
